Zygote Printmaking Residency Open Call

Zygote accepts applications for two Printmaking Residency Open Call per year, (typically) one in Summer and one in Winter. Qualified artist residents should be printmakers in the U.S. or abroad with the aim to work on a special project in Zygote’s Cleveland facilities.

These residencies include free housing in the Zygote Press Artist Share Space (ZPASS) loft apartment — a live-work accommodation above the E. 30th St. studio — as well as a stipend and full access to the shop for two weeks. In exchange, residents give a lecture or demonstration, donate one work created at Zygote to the archive and donate one work to the store. Additional Zygote funding is not available for travel costs. The precise 2-week time slot of residencies will be agreed upon by Zygote’s Residency Director and the selected artist based on the availability of ZPASS.

Criteria: All printmakers
Residency: Two Week / 14-days Spring (May) or Two Week / 14-days Fall (September)
Artist Talk / Portfolio Presentation (due available dates only): last week of residency scheduled by Residency Manager
Stipend: $500 & ZPASS Housing
Print for Zygote Archive: leave one print created during the residency
Print for Zygote Store: donate one print created during the residency
Shop Orientation / Instruction: One hour
Shop / Materials: 24/7 access, shop tools
The next deadline is July 31, 2020 for 2021 residencies

All application materials below must be in a single PDF file no larger than 5MB.

The application PDF file must include:

(1) Letter of Interest, including a project proposal detailing the specific work you would develop at Zygote. (No more than 500 words)
(2) Resume or CV
(3) Artist Statement
(4) 5-8 images of recent work. (Optional: please include links to video work.)
(5) Image list with the following information: title, date, size, medium, and brief description if needed
(6) Names, emails, & phone numbers of 2 references. Please let your references know we may be calling.
