Social Media Specialist

Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest NPR, PBS and classical radio stations, continues to expand its trusted, in-depth, high-quality local news and information service to 22 counties in Northeast Ohio. As part of this growth, and in conjunction with the Corporation for Public Broadcasting’s (CPB) American Graduate initiative, Ideastream seeks a Social Media Specialist, a creative thinker who can make informative and interesting social media videos. Over the course of this two-year assignment the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for working closely with the American Graduate: Jobs Explained project team to develop, curate, and create videos that inform teens on TikTok and other social media platforms about in-demand careers and career pathways. The emphasis for Ideastream Public Media produced content will be on the shipping/transportation industry. Typical duties include producing at least three TikTok/Reels videos each week that adhere to project templates that appeal to youth audiences, as well as identifying emerging trends and influential social media content creators focused on careers, jobs, and pathways to employment.

Qualified candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Docs, Google Drive, and MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.), and have strong verbal and written communication, organizational and time-management skills. A Bachelor’s degree in social media, media production, or a related field, and two years of experience in digital video production or social media content creation is preferred, though an equivalent of experience in related fields and education will be considered. The salary range for this position begins at $52,000 and is commensurate with experience.
