The Social & Digital Media Specialist, in collaboration with Communications and Marketing team will be responsible for developing of the content voice and message for all aspects of The Cleveland Orchestra’s online storytelling presence; including social media, websites, and e-newsletters. The Specialist’s primary responsibility is to compose (write, film, photograph, edit, proofread) and post editorial content to social media channels and assigned websites. In addition, the Specialist will create video, multimedia, and infographic content that enhances the written content. The Specialist’s goal will be audience engagement and retention of patrons and social media followers, increasing web traffic, and opt-in subscribers. The candidate must work well with cross-functional teams, especially Communications, Marketing, Digital Experience/Website, Customer Experience, and Philanthropy & Advancement.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collaboratively determine the optimal way to tell The Cleveland Orchestra story on digital platforms with social media copywriting, suggest the best social media voice and tone.
Write, film, photograph, revise, edit and/or upload content for social media (currently Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube), The Cleveland Orchestra website and press-releases.
Assist with the social media team lead on social media strategy, planning and implementation, including organic and promoted content.
With the social media team project lead, assist in coordinating content development for existing social media accounts, as well as monitor and engage with audiences on those accounts.
Maintain overall status and timing of content creation and updates to keep on track with timelines and deadlines.
Design graphics for social media and website.

Create multimedia components that enhance social media, website news and features using a variety of current software and tools.

Utilize Google Analytics to analyze reports of audience usage and identify patterns.

Identify emerging content opportunities and advise on methods to repurpose existing content.

Travel to cover media events and produce original writing, video, photography, social media and e-newsletter coverage in the Cleveland area, including but not limited to Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
Assist with tracking, explaining and interpreting key online and social media metrics to various departments and make recommendations for improvement.

Assist teams in the headline and other content analysis to maximize open rates and click-throughs.

Assist with proper ad tag placement for all e-newsletters and confirm functionality.
Actively participates in department and team meetings, offering constructive opinions and ideas to efficiently complete short-term needs and to more effectively and creatively achieve long-term strategic messaging and department/institutional goals.
Represents the Communications team at internal project meetings and external partner meetings.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with collecting, filing and distributing traditional media coverage of The Cleveland Orchestra as well as traditional media list contact management, and press release distribution.
Assist as a secondary resource in coordinating media interviews with musicians and guest artists; attends concerts and other institutional events to cultivate relationships with local media, monitors and escorts electronic media, distributes press materials, services image, and video requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, creative writing, integrated marketing, multimedia or digital media production.

Two to three years of professional experience preferred.

Excellent writing ability, to create compelling, clean copy and conduct cross-platform editing.

Command of video editing techniques and experience using Adobe Premiere or related video editing software.

Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, Audition, Photoshop, InDesign, Google Analytics, and Microsoft Office.

Coursework or study in graphic and digital design and a grasp of what makes a design work online.

Basic understanding of HTML and CSS for broadcast email systems and digital ad serving a plus.

Strong organizational and time management skills with high attention to detail are essential.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to successfully interact with multiple constituencies and diverse groups of people.

Desirable:  Previous experience with an arts organization and interest and passion for music, especially classical music.
