Radio Broadcast Engineer
Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest PBS, NPR, and classical stations, seeks an experienced and responsible individual with a “can-do” attitude to serve as a Radio Broadcast Engineer (Engineer) to provide technical and operational support for studio, production and transmission systems.
As part of a growing Radio Engineering team, the Engineer assist in the installation and maintenance of broadcast production and transmission equipment, systems, and radio facilities. You will also troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment and systems including, but not limited to, preventative and corrective maintenance.
Qualified candidates will have demonstrated proficiency managing and troubleshooting broadcast automation, content management, and audio editing equipment, including specific experience with the configuration and operation of ENCO radio automation systems. Previous experience with FM and HD Radio transmission systems, along with an understanding of applicable FCC rules and regulations is a must. Familiarity with Audio over IP systems including Axia Livewire is preferred.
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and five to seven years of relevant experience in broadcast engineering is preferred, although an equivalent of experience in related fields and education will be considered.
Ideastream is a 24/7 operation, which may require this position to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends. A valid Ohio drivers’ license is required for this position. A Certified Broadcast Radio Engineer (CBRE) and/or FCC General Radiotelephone Operator License is a plus.
