Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest NPR, PBS and classical radio stations, continues to expand its trusted, in-depth, high-quality local news and information service to 22 counties in Northeast Ohio. As part of this growth, Ideastream seeks a technical and self-motivated professional to join The Ohio Channel team in Columbus to serve as the Ohio Government Telecommunications (OGT) Operations Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Operations Engineer is responsible for supporting OGT by facilitating, maintaining, and troubleshooting the latest technologies in multimedia distribution to ensure maximum operational efficiency. Typical duties include programing and maintaining CMS/DAM systems, coordinating AWS data storage and distribution, troubleshooting, and operating NAS servers, operating video encoders, and troubleshooting equipment on EFP productions.
Qualified candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of video, audio, automation systems, routing systems, power distribution, and related technologies, and have strong verbal and written communication, organizational and time-management skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology, or a related field, and two to four years of experience in broadcast television or a related field is preferred, though an equivalent of experience in related fields and education will be considered. The salary range for this Columbus based position begins at $58,000 and is commensurate with experience. A valid Ohio drivers’ license is required for this position.
