Outreach Intern Description

The Company

Improbable Players [IP] is a nonprofit educational theater company that utilizes performance and theatre to address substance use disorder. All of our plays are based on true stories, and all our actors are in recovery. Our groundbreaking theatrical pieces are based on the lived experiences of people in recovery. Our ​performances have been seen by over 1.1 million people from around the world.

The Internship

The Improbable Players is seeking a driven intern to help bring our outreach efforts to the next level. We're a small nonprofit educational theater company. Typically we market through email and direct mail. This job will entail enhancing both our analogue and digital marketing strategies, developing our messaging, and growing the Improbable Players family. This is an excellent opportunity to make a real impact both at our company and in society more broadly as we fight to do our part in combating addiction. ​BIPOC, LGBTQ+ identifying individuals, and people of all abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. What ALL interns have:

-an ability to work well in a loose project based environment
-the willingness seek out opportunities to expand the profile and reach of the Players -a strong writing ability
-an interest in applied theater and/or addiction prevention

What our outreach intern should have:

-a firm grasp of social media formats and how to use them to market -experience w/ poster design and direct mail marketing
-event planning, graphic design experience, and SEO knowledge are pluses

The applicant will submit to Development Coordinator Melany Levesque (​melany@improbableplayers.org​) their cover letter and resume, ideal start/end dates given your schedule, and ideal time commitment. ​NOTE: ​Exact start/end dates are flexible according to school schedule. We will work with your institution to provide credit where requested. This position is eligible as a federal work-study pending College/University approval.

Applications are open from November 1, 2020 to January 1, 2021, or until filled. A staff member will conduct a phone interview with the applicant, followed by a virtual interview. We will communicate our decision after both interviews. If approved, the internship will begin no later than Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Onboarding will be completed in the first week; it will consist of an orientation and an intro to company software, networking profiles, policies, and all other relevant materials. The intern will work with IP no later than June 30, 2021. The internship, and all aspects of IP, are currently remote. Please review our ​COVID-19 response​.
