Job Title: Neighborhood Connections Network Builder Fellows (Hiring 3 total) Reports to: Network Manager

Supervises: N/A

Position Status: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), one-year temporary positions with the potential for renewal. Non-exempt.

SUMMARY: The role of the Neighborhood Connections Network Fellows is to build, grow and support the Neighbor Up Network; to create an environment where individuals can develop trust and make connections; and to support action for a thriving community that yields tangible assets for residents. The Neighborhood Connections Fellows will focus mainly on community building, resource and relationship weaving, facilitating groups, sharing practices and event planning using Asset Based Community Development and Community Network Building approaches.

*Please note- We are hiring three full-time Fellows with each focusing on one of the area’s listed below (Community Weaving, Training, or Organizing and Integration) to be determined.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of Each Fellow:

1. Network Fellow, Community Weaving

Support the weaving of the network of Neighbor Up Grantees
• Develop trust, connections, and networks within and between Neighbor Up grant recipients, working with the Network Manager for Community Weaving to create more opportunities – and spaces – for grant recipients to connect, learn and grow through relationships with other grantees and individuals while also connecting with others for mutual support and collective action.

• Listen to community members to discover strengths, challenges and perceptions of their initiatives through one-on-one conversations and at small group gatherings.

• Document connections and follow-up on opportunities to build connections with the Neighbor Up Network and move ideas into action.

2. Network Fellow, Training

Support the development of Neighbor Up University

• Work with the Network Manager for Training, develop trainings, mutual support circles, mentorship opportunities, and other ways based on the network members strengths and where there is opportunity for change so that they can better their efforts in community.
• Support this work by assisting in organizing, publicizing, and implementing these various offerings.
• Work with NC contractors, as needed, to develop these initiatives.

3. Network Fellow, Integration and Organizing

Support the development of Issue Networks and Network Campaigns

• Work with the Network Manager for Organizing to build issue networks where grassroots groups working on similar issues come together to learn from one another, act together, support one another, and connect to good, timely information.

• Work with Network Manager for Organizing by developing campaigns on issues network members care about, at the neighborhood, institutional, and systemic levels.

Administrative

• Participate in all staff meetings and trainings.

• Complete necessary reports, timesheets, check requests, expense reports.

• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS (Qualifications, Credentials and Technical Skills):

• Experience in community building, community organizing, and/or campaign organizing where social change has been made and where strong relationships have been developed (combination of lived experience, education, and volunteer experience is considered.)

• Preference for collaborative approach to work; respects the power of residents and citizen volunteers and their ability to make change in their communities.

• Seeks out the possibilities and the opportunities in challenges presented.

• Entrepreneurial spirit/self-motivated.

• Willing to taking direction and feedback.

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills, including willingness to negotiate and talk through issues that arise in an honest and concise manner.

• Ability to work under deadline and prioritize work.

• Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills.

• Strong computer skills; interest in using technology tools to assist in documentation of community network building. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

• Ability to be flexible with work and adjust priorities as needed.

• Ability to maintain confidence when working with sensitive information.

• Comfortable speaking in front of groups / making presentations.

• Ability to "knock on doors", establish, build and maintain relationships.

• Ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of individuals internal and external to the program.

• Team player - help others and be supportive.

• Strong understanding and knowledge of the neighborhoods and communities NC serves.

• Committed to using and learning a community network building and asset-based approach / strategy.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands:

• Ability to travel door to door throughout neighborhoods.

• Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. (office supplies, meeting materials, etc.).

• Ability to work evenings as needed (frequency-2-3 days per week).

PAY & BENEFITS
