ABOUT THE MARKETING & OUTREACH COORDINATOR POSITION

The Marketing & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for establishing, nurturing, and maintaining authentic connections with schools, libraries, community development corporations, recreation centers, and other organizations working with high school youth. The end result of the Marketing & Outreach Coordinator’s work is to establish strong partnerships that will connect TLA to the youth who will be best served by our After School Fellowship and Neighborhood Youth Advisory Board programs. The Marketing & Outreach Coordinator is a part-time, grant-funded position.

ABOUT TWELVE LITERARY ARTS

Twelve Literary Arts bring storytelling and performance poetry to public spaces, while supporting poets and writers of all ages with youth programming, adult professional development, and brave spaces, to dream, write, and teach into reality a world of social justice and equity. Founded by poet, educator, and youth activist Daniel Gray-Kontar in 2016, the organization provides literary arts instruction and leadership development to elementary and high school-aged youth while offering an expansive slate of programming to adult poets, writers, and storytellers. Working in collaboration with an array of community partners, Twelve Literary Arts has played a pivotal role in merging the stories of everyday neighborhood residents with the creative placekeeping efforts of community development corporations, developers, and city planners. Twelve Literary Arts are one of the leading contributors to the local dialogue about the intersection of the arts and social transformation in the city of Cleveland. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Marketing & Outreach Coordinator
Classification: Regular Part-Time
This position reports to: Executive Artistic Director
Start Date: October 15, 2020
End Date: October 14, 2021
Annual Rate: $20,000
Hours Per Week: 25 hrs/wk

OUTREACH (Approximately 60% of responsibilities)

  • Help curate events that introduce target schools, libraries, Rec Centers, and other organizations throughout Northeast Ohio to The One Mic Open After School Fellowship
  • Actively recruit youth throughout Northeast Ohio for participation in the One Mic Open After School Fellowship
  • Support the One Mic Open Fellowship in the outreach and submission of applications.
  • Prepare promotional and presentation materials for distribution for the One Mic Open After School Fellowship.
  • Work with youth interns to publicize The One Mic Open After School Fellowship through Twelve Literary Arts established channels, and the media (web, social networking, print, radio, television).
  • Create an annual plan for outreach activities in the community
  • Speak and represent Twelve Literary Arts at community events
  • Work with youth interns to create a strategy effectively utilizing social media outlets (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr) and the internet to raise Twelve Literary Arts online visibility

MARKETING (approximately 40% of responsibilities)

  • Stay current on Twelve Literary Arts programming and community events, so as to engage and involve youth in its special events
  • Contact and coordinate with arts education teachers and contractors. Keeps track of changes and communicate with relevant parties as needed
  • Track attendance of One Mic Open Fellowship events and classes to ensure they are well attended
  • Work closely with Executive Artistic Director, Multi-Media and Event coordinators on all projects
  • Solicit participant feedback through a survey and online communication
    Maintain communication with Twelve Literary Arts departments (Youth, Special Programs)
  • Attend required meetings
  • Host mid-year and end of the year debrief with Fellowship support instructor and interns
    Submits a mid-year and end of year status reports.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong team player with a “say yes” mentality
  • Experience working with teachers and school administrators is not required but is a plus
  • Experience working within teams and on detailed projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within diverse populations with respect and integrity.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication, process improvement, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to work with a high level of integrity and with minimal supervision in all environments.
  • Highly computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite/Google SheetsSupervised by:
    Executive Artistic DirectorEducation and Experience:
    Minimum 2 years of experience in marketing
    Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business preferred but not essentialLicenses or Certifications Required:
    Valid driver’s license or other accommodations for travel.

    Working Conditions:
    Work is usually performed in an office environment. Some evening and weekend work will be required, with occasional overnight travel.

    Telecommuting:
    This position allows telecommuting.
