The Marketing Intern is responsible for implementing social media, grassroots, and production material marketing strategies under the guidance of the Marketing Manager. Near West Theatre has an unprecedented opportunity to elevate its visibility locally in the Detroit Shoreway neighborhood, regionally with Greater Cleveland, and Nationally as a founding institution of the Gordon Square Arts District. This is an unpaid internship that offers other benefits.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Social Media:

  • Meet with Marketing Director and team to collaborate on copy and ideas for the week’s Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter outreach
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to design/create bi-weekly e-blast for NWT audience with organization news
  • Collaborate with Marketing team to design/create monthly e-blast to NWT board members with organization updates & info
  • After researching shows, design blog entry topics and (with Marketing team) create schedule for execution
  • Create blog entries using audience/cast testimonials and production images/videos
  • Oversee creation and implementation of playbills;

Marketing & Print Promotion:

  • Help with short video projects for NWT social media outlets
  • Aid in editing copy and design for NWT publications/mailings
  • Assist in the development of production playbills, coordinating with various departments and personnel to provide necessary copy and information
  • Photo editing, as necessary
  • Coordinate materials and documentation with cast, parents and volunteers for grassroots campaigns and local marketing efforts

Miscellaneous:

  • Internal archiving of photos, videos, ads, articles/stories and show publicity
  • Manage, populate, & schedule LED sign per NWT events or rentals
  • Other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships: The Marketing Intern reports to the Marketing Manager

Qualifications

  1. Digital/Studio Art/Design experience
  2. InDesign/Photoshop experience
  3. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter proficient
  4. Availability to work flexible hours during show runs for promotional purposes

Scheduling

  1. Two days a week, 12-16 hours total weekly
  2. Monday availability is preferred, so that we can establish all of the week’s social media goals at the front end of the week
