The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra is Northeast Ohio’s premier jazz organization, providing the region with the finest in jazz education and entertainment for over 35 years. The CJO is accepting applications (until 8/5) for a part-time Managing Director/Operations Manager who will report to the CJO’s Executive Director. As the CJO staff is small, the successful candidate’s role will be both impactful and will reflect the strengths, background and interests of the candidate.

 

Among the tasks for the position will possibly include contributing or controlling:

  1. Concert logistics (up to 40 concerts/year)
  2. Fundraising/Donor cultivation/management
  3. Website/Social Media/Marketing
  4. Create/maintain databases
  5. Day to Day operations/Process Development
  6. Grant writing/Corporate/Foundation support
  7. Design/Layout of Electronic/Print media
  8. Additional duties as requested or talents provide

The candidate should be a self-starter and have:

  1. Experience in an arts related field, Bachelor’s degree at a minimum
  2. Basic understanding of the jazz idiom
  3. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail
  4. Background and ease in Microsoft Office/Google applications/Social Media
  5. Ability to communicate well-written, verbally and collaboratively

 

The hours for the position are mostly flexible, will vary from week to week depending on need and will require some significant evening and weekend time (e.g.-Season Series concert weeks will require more time than others). While the bulk of the work can be done from home, travel will be necessary throughout Northeast Ohio. Starting compensation for the position is $15/hr (approx. 80hrs/month).
