Summary

The Director of Development oversees the Museum’s fundraising efforts and plays a significant role in furthering the work and mission of the Museum.  As a member of the management team, they ensure the development and success of the organization by instilling a culture of philanthropy, coordinating fund development, contributing to strategic planning, and addressing development issues within the organization.  The successful applicant will build lasting relationships with donors and keep them informed on how their financial input is making the world a better place.  Preferred candidates will be self-motivated, deadline-driven multitaskers.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the board of trustees, development committee and Managing Director to create and implement a fundraising plan.
• Collaborate with the External Relations team to develop a digital fundraising strategy.
• Work together with a network to identify and build relationships with new donors.
• Maintain relationships with existing donors and sponsors.
• Initiates, plans, and supervises execution of donor-centered activities including fundraisers, cultivation, and recognition events.
• Oversee all development and membership initiatives including annual fundraising appeals, annual membership drive, gift processing and acknowledgments.
• External relationship building to enhance museum program development and implementation.
• Identifies new major gift sources and maximizes the closure of short- and long-term gifts and corporate partnerships.
• Oversees the strategic approach, preparation, submission, and tracking of all proposals for government and foundation grants.
