Gallery Internship

Kaiser Gallery supports the education of students in the arts. Gallery Interns at Kaiser Gallery receive specialized instruction and hands-on experience with gallery practices. We will work with universities so students may earn college credit. Each department has its own set of guidelines so please ask your department heads about their internal procedures, otherwise, interns are required to commit to a minimum of 6 hours for a total of 120 hours to complete the program. At the completion of the internship, interns will receive a letter of recommendation. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 4 pm - 10 pm, and Sunday, 4 pm – 8 pm. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 9 am - 3 pm. 

Gallery interns will be exposed to all aspects of working in a contemporary art gallery and will work alongside gallery staff. Gallery interns will assist with daily operations, reception openings and learn about curating, art handling, and proper presentation of gallery exhibits. Interns will also have the opportunity to specialize their experience in the following areas; Gallery Assistant, Arts Administration, Marketing, and Events Management. 

Sample internship tasks include: 

• Assist with exhibition coordination and installation design. 
• Participate in strategic installation planning for upcoming exhibitions. 
• Learning essential skills for art handling and art installation. 
• Organizing paperwork and details for incoming and outgoing shipments. 
• Maintaining workshop and storage areas. 
• Meeting, greeting, and assisting artists, collectors, and visitors. 
• Writing and editing texts for press releases, social media posts, and newsletters. ● Answering and directing phone calls. 
• Attending gallery events and performing various event duties. 
• Preparing outgoing mailings to artists and subscribers. 

This internship is unpaid.
