The Singing Angels seeks an Executive Director to lead the organization to continue its long-standing positive impact on Northeast Ohio’s youth. The Singing Angels, founded in 1964 by William C. Boehm, is a non-profit dedicated to youth development through the highest level of artistic achievement in the performing arts. The mission is to engage youth from all communities in quality music and performing arts education that teaches teamwork, builds confidence, and provides a foundation for life.

Position Overview: The Executive Director manages all day-to-day operations of the organization, supervising its business and advising the Board of Directors on all aspects of its operations and strategic initiatives.

The executive director works with the President and reports to The Singing Angels Board of Directors and supervises the Performing Chorus Administrator, Reserve Chorus Administrator, Music Directors, Tour Manager, Accounting Function, and others as deemed necessary.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

 Strategic Initiatives

  • Partners with the board and staff to identify strategic initiatives
  • Once identified work with board and staff to develop a comprehensive plan
  • Execute the plan to achieve results and measure outcomes

 Organizational Management

  • Prepare meeting materials for and attend all Board meetings
  • Management of Singing Angels Studio
  • Create, distribute, and analyze annual organizational survey
  • Conduct annual staff retreat
  • Create and post social media content
  • Execute other duties as may from time to time be prescribed by the President and/or Board of Directors

Fundraising

  • Cultivate and maintain funding relationships, from identifying the opportunities to making the ask to sustaining long-term relationships
  • Complete annual grant applications and sponsorship requests
  • Create and manage annual appeal solicitation
  • Write and distribute monthly donor e-newsletters

Programming

  • Plan and coordinate all logistics for two annual benefit concerts
  • Create and coordinate Performing Chorus rehearsal and concert schedules
  • Book and handle all logistics for Performing Chorus concerts
  • Oversee Reserve Chorus and Littlest Angels programming
  • Provide customer satisfaction support

Finance

  • Oversee finances in conjunction with accountant and Treasurer
  • Assist with annual budget
  • Assist outside Certified Public Accounting firm on completion of annual review and 990
  • Manage and execute account payables and account receivables
  • Manage and execute instructional and uniform fee invoicing
  • Process instructional and uniform fee payments and other day-to-day accounting duties

HR Management

  • Maintain, attract, and lead a diverse, talented team and motivate them to achieve key strategic outcomes consistent with the mission
  • Mange all staff and contractors (including responsibility for hiring and discharging employees)
  • Execute bi-monthly payrolls

Qualifications

  • At least 5 or more years of professional experience in business or a related field with leadership experience in management or supervisory positions.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred or other equivalent work experience

Skills

  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with Singing Angels staff, students and parents, volunteers, Board of Directors, donors, grant making organizations, and other stakeholders
  • Self-starter, creative, flexible, resourceful, networker
  • Ability to evaluate, recommend, plan, and manage projects utilizing a strategic mindset
  • Ability to effectively motivate staff and volunteers to achieve The Singing Angel's mission
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fiscal management
