The Cleveland Orchestra has been for decades a point of pride in its hometown.  It is universally admired for its world-class credentials, its gifted musicians, and its acoustically perfect and visually stunning concert hall.  The orchestra welcomes people of all ages, all walks of life, and invites them to experience something that is unique in the world.

We are currently seeking a Driver who will provide chauffeur and concierge service to the Music Director primarily, and to guest artists and guest conductors as needed. Responsibilities include driving the Music Director and his wife for all transportation needs in Cleveland, ensuring safety and timeliness; driving guest conductors, guest artists, and special guests of the institution on an as needed basis; maintaining an open line of communication with relevant staff and airlines to accommodate and communicate any schedule changes related to the driving needs of the Music Director or any guest artists; reviewing weekly and daily schedules and maintaining communication for any updates; providing concierge services while Music Director is at Severance Hall by keeping him on track with his daily schedule, ensuring his studio is cleaned and ready prior to arrival, refreshing towels and water, and arranging lunch as needed; maintaining credit card documentation and ensuring proper documentation and receipts are submitted for approval.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Chauffeur experience preferred
  • Outstanding concierge service skills with guests
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated independent, mature judgment and ability to consistently maintain a professional image and calm demeanor
  • Must have and maintain a clean driving record and excellent defensive driving skills
  • Above average familiarity of efficient driving routes in greater Cleveland area and knowledge of local information about the city including restaurants, amenities and attractions, etc.
  • Must have personal means of travel to locations (Severance Hall, Blossom Music Center, car rentals) in instances when a vehicle needs to be exchanged
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays; must be able to accommodate day-of schedule changes for unforeseen driving needs
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely and handle or carry luggage, as well as use basic office equipment; must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
