Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest PBS, NPR, and classical radio stations, seeks an interactive and imaginative storyteller to serve as a Digital Producer who will assist our Education Team in the creation and curation of high-quality educational content relevant in Ohio classrooms across multiple broadcast and digital distribution platforms such as PBS LearningMedia and YouTube.
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Digital Producer is primarily responsible for NewsDepth, an interactive current events program for students in grades four through six. The Digital Producer is also responsible for researching news and information to produce Ohio classroom content to educate our audiences, produce audio, video, and text-based stories and tutorials, and engage in community listening activities via surveys, focus groups and field work. In this role, you will direct and edit content created by reporters, producers and other content creators, write and edit copy following AP style and SEO best practices, and optimize content for user experience across digital platforms.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate proficiency using video and audio editing software, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, have the ability to leverage social media platforms for journalistic purposes, and maintain awareness of critical educational issues and trends in Ohio. A Bachelor’s Degree in digital media, journalism, social media, or a related field, and two to five years of digital journalism experience is preferred, though an equivalent of experience in related fields and education will be considered.
