Job Objective
The Development Associate works collaboratively with the Director of Development to cultivate current individual, foundation, corporate, and government funders, strategize regarding new or inventive funders and funding approaches, and steward current donors to meet shared fundraising goals.

Duties and Responsibilities
 Collaborate on potential funder strategies and teamwork around individual, foundation, corporate foundation, and government grant applications as necessary.
 Research potential individual, foundation, corporate, and government supporters.
 Draft bios and background documents for current supporters.
 Assist with copy for individual, foundation, company, patron, and other major MOCA report templates, then drives completion within project or season.
 Assist with records, contact reports, database tracking, and filing related to individual, foundation, corporate foundation, and government donors.
 Departmental support for project specific and major gift research.
 Collect data and trends from programs, operations, and curatorial to inform reports for funders.
 Attend advocacy meetings, and assemble and distribute information for development staff, in relation to government/county and other special gifts awareness (eg Cuyahoga Arts & Culture “tobacco tax”).
 Assist in events management for current and prospective funders.
 Assist department with research, reports, and copy.
 Execute duties and maintain standards in accordance with company policies and procedures.
 Perform additional duties as needed or directed.
 Maintain current knowledge of the industry relevant to the position.

Job Specific Requirements
 Bachelor’s Degree required.
 2+ years of development or sales experience with proven track record in prospecting/research, grant writing, customer service, and donor stewardship, with basic knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and ethics.
 Knowledge of or history in Art, Arts Administration, or Art History preferred.
 Knowledge of philanthropic community and experience fundraising in the Cleveland arts community.
 Aptitude for management and effective use of information systems in support of an advancement program.
 Familiarity with donor databases is a must, and familiarity with Raiser’s Edge is a significant asset.
 Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
 Excellent communication and writing skills.
 Fluency in English: speaking, reading and writing.

Working Conditions and Requirements
 Able to work flexible hours for occasional evening or weekend events and meetings.
 Able to sit/stand for long periods of computer use.
