We are currently seeking a Development Associate (Major Gifts) who will provide administrative support for The Cleveland Orchestra’s Major Gifts Team. The primary focus for this position will be to work directly with Major Gifts Officers to expand and enhance The Cleveland Orchestra’s philanthropy program through administrative and donor management responsibilities. The Development Associate will work in collaboration with other Development Team members, as well as other Orchestra administration staff.

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant work experience may be substituted for academic training
  • One to two years of administrative/customer service experience
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Proven proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel
  • Experience working with donor relational databases; experience with Tessitura software a plus
  • Superior interpersonal skills to successfully interact with a diverse group of donors, prospective donors, staff and musicians
  • Strong organizational skills with a high attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
  • Demonstrated independent, mature judgment with the ability to consistently maintain a professional image and demeanor
  • Excellent work ethic, boundless energy, enthusiasm, and sense of humor
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and some holidays
  • Must be able to travel between locations (Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center) as well as to local and regional meetings and events
  • Knowledge of the Cleveland business, philanthropic, and social community; previous experience with an arts organization; and an interest in classical music are all desirable
