The Center for Arts-Inspired Learning (CAL) provides multi-disciplinary arts education opportunities for youth throughout NE Ohio in schools and community venues. In 2017, CAL re-located to University Circle to expand outreach into the community in a more intentional way. The Community Outreach Manager is part of the Education Department and oversees two vital components of CAL’s portfolio: ArtWorks and community programming outside the University Circle adjacent neighborhoods. S/he reports to the Director of Programs.

ArtWorks is an arts-based youth development program for teens. It operates year-round in off-site locations and in three separate sessions: two after-school sessions for 12 weeks September – December and February – May, 4:30PM – 7:30PM; and a summer session in two sites downtown, for 5-6 weeks, June – July, Monday-Friday, 9:30AM – 4PM. Teens apply, interview, are hired, and are paid a stipend to work in small co-op groups led by teaching artists in diverse art forms. Co-ops collaborate internally and with external partners on a community service component of the program. ArtWorks integrates entrepreneurship, high school completion, college and career readiness with the arts instruction. Teens are supported through counseling, workshops, and events as they transition through high school to college and the workforce. ArtWorks helps them identify pathways to reach their goals successfully.

CAL is committed to connecting with community-based organizations to ensure that more young people have access to high quality arts education. The Community Outreach Manager oversees the planning and implementation of outreach strategies. S/he is primarily responsible for connecting with the broader community by creating and cultivating relationships with organizations, businesses, individuals, and other relevant community partners.

The Community Outreach Manager oversees the ArtWorks program and the strategic outreach into the broader community with guidance of the Director of Programs in determining specific opportunities. Both components require networking at community meetings, such as neighborhood meet-ups, and with community organizations, libraries, schools, etc. while designing and implementing CAL arts programming that engages youth and families.

Some Saturdays and evenings may be required.
