Position Summary: The Cleaning Specialist is responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, mopping and vacuuming Center public spaces, classrooms, and staff areas, stocking cleaning supplies and keeping the Center clean and welcoming to employees and visitors.

Schedule: The schedule for this position is approximately 16-20 hours per week and includes weekday evenings and weekend mornings (or evenings). The Cleaning Specialist will work after business hours.

Responsibilities: The Cleaning Specialist will clean and disinfect all restroom fixtures, toilets, walls, sinks, faucets, counter tops and door handles. Spot clean mirrors and entry glass. Wet mop all hard surface floors in bathrooms, kitchens, offices and entries. Fill all restroom paper products, soap and sanitizing dispensers. Vacuum and spot clean all carpeted floors in public areas, classrooms and offices. Empty all wastebaskets and wash as necessary. Clean and disinfect all common touch areas. Clean and disinfect staff kitchen countertops, floor and appliance handles. Remove all trash and recycling to dumpsters. Perform other cleaning duties as needed. The Cleaning Specialist must follow the Center’s handbook and adhere to its COVID-19 protocols.

Qualifications: Candidates should preferably have experience in commercial cleaning. Knowledge of cleaning supplies and equipment. Be highly responsible and reliable. Have the abilities to perform cleaning tasks including, using a vacuum, dry mop, wet mop and bucket, reaching, stooping, and have the ability to lift 50 pounds.

Organization: Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is a nonprofit organization providing informal science education for children, families, and people of all ages. It is the only facility providing wildlife rehabilitation in Cuyahoga County; it is one of two public access planetariums in Cleveland; and it is located in a park setting near Lake Erie. The Center offers a distinct blend of programs and classes for children, families, and young adults, wildlife rehabilitation and education services, and free admission to exhibits about science including live animal exhibits. Lake Erie Nature & Science Center is funded by private donations, program fees, and grants including Cuyahoga Arts & Culture through the residents of Cuyahoga County.
