Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest NPR, PBS and classical radio stations, is building on its recent merger with WKSU and expanding its trusted, in-depth, high-quality local news and information service to 22 counties in Northeast Ohio. As part of that expansion, Ideastream seeks a passionate fundraising and marketing professional to serve as Chief Development and Marketing Officer (CDMO). We eagerly welcome individuals with diverse lived experiences and perspectives to enrich our work and bring fresh ideas into our organization.
Reporting to the President and CEO, the CDMO will manage Ideastream’s overall revenue growth and expansion, ensuring stability over long-term change through a philanthropic and educational lens. The CDMO will provide leadership and oversight of all resource development strategies and activities. This includes creating, planning, and managing successful initiatives in areas including major gifts, planned giving, grants, annual giving, special events, communications, cultivation and stewardship, as well as sales management, new business development, product development, core service management, and customer service. The CDMO will work with board members, professional staff, and program staff to lead and direct significant major gift fundraising to secure philanthropic support for capital, endowment, and other campaigns that are aligned with the Ideastream’s operations. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, the CDMO will work closely with their colleagues and the board to assist with multi-million-dollar, multi-year resource development strategies and will monitor progress against goals. This role is also responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and execution of the organization's marketing, communication, and promotion initiatives and plays a vital role in creative influence of business strategies.
Qualified candidates will be experienced in fund raising activities with a proven track record in major gift solicitation, be familiar with emerging trends in philanthropy and charitable gift planning, have a solid understanding of market research and data analysis methods, and have the ability to lead strategic marketing planning and goal setting with the Executive Leadership Team. The candidate will also have strong verbal and written communication, decision making, and problem-solving skills, and a proven track record of team building and working across divisions to achieve goals and the highest level of performance.
A Bachelor’s degree relevant to fundraising, marketing, mass communication, organizational development, or a related field, ten years of executive management, development, or marketing experience is preferred, though equivalent experience in related fields and education will be considered. The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience. Ideastream’s Board of Trustees commissions an annual independent comprehensive compensation review for the Executive Leadership Team’s total compensation. All competitive salaries and subsequent adjustments are based on the annual independent review.
