Call for Illustrator

Talespinner Children's Theatre is a Cleveland-based company that develops and produces highly imaginative, original, collaborative and interactive professional works for children that also stimulate creative growth in its artists. 

As it moves into its tenth season, the company is looking for a new visual artist to create artwork for its original productions that draw on stories told from around the world.

The scope of work would included:

• Original drawings for each production (historically 4-5 a year) that are inspired by the story told in the play.

• The drawings for shows within the same season should be a cohesive whole.

• Drawings should be reminiscent of our artwork for the past 9 seasons which can be found in this google photo album or see below for examples.

• These drawings should be whimsical, but sophisticated.

• Drawings should represent the multicultural emphasis of the company, as well as other aspects of diversity, including neurodiversity, physical ability, etc.

• Artist should be able to draw humans, faces, and animals.

• Drawings will need to be digitally manipulated after they are completed for marketing needs, including, but not limited to print, social media, website, possibly merchandise.

• A link to your digital portfolio that is representative of your work.

• A preliminary quote for the project (4-5 pieces of original art over the course of the year).

• A short paragraph (2-3 sentences) that outline how you approach the creative process, specifically when you are working with a partner.

• Your full name, phone number, and email.

• References are optional.

DEADLINE:  December 21, 2020 at 11:59pm.

Artists will be notified of selection by January 4th.  Artists might be contacted between deadline and January 4th with additional questions.

Selected artist will complete their first project in January.
