CALL FOR ENTRIES 2020 - THE CLEVELAND COLLECTION

The Cleveland Collection is a permanent growing collection of local artists representing the 17 wards of the City of Cleveland. The purpose of the collection is to promote and commission contemporary art to accelerate the arts in our community, incubate artistic careers and foster a sustainable economic approach to the business of local art. This collection will be commissioned pieces measuring to 6’h x 3’w.

The Cleveland Gallery is a temporary rotating exhibition of select artists representing the 17 wards of the City of Cleveland on display outside Cleveland City Council Chambers. Visitors to City Hall can enjoy the new displays, experiences and approaches produced by artists, which can lead to engaging, imaginative and resonant interactions. City residents benefit from the artist’s knowledge, ideas, experience and audiences, and the artist gets special access to community leaders, visitors, expertise and public spaces. Artists in the Cleveland Gallery will receive a stipend for participating. The artwork will be onsite for one year.

TO APPLY: Art EverySpace appreciates the opportunity to review your work, and we understand the effort it takes to prepare and present your portfolio. Please fill out the form online with your contact information, artist statement (no more than 100 words), and include a link to a portfolio with a selection of up to 3 images. You may submit artwork in the form of JPGs (email) or a URL where we can view the work online. Please ensure that the images are clearly labeled with the artist's name, title of the work, date and dimensions. We cannot accept actual physical works of art at this time. Please indicate the ward in which you live and/or work.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to artists ages 18 or older residing in, or working in, Cleveland, Ohio. All submitted Art must be original.

PREPARATION OF WORK:  All accepted entries must be ready for gallery installation. Two-dimensional works must be framed and finished to museum quality.  All works must have proper hanging hardware installed. Artists are responsible for delivery to City Hall at the designated times and locations. Pieces not ready for gallery installation, and pieces that are not representative of submitted images, are subject to rejection. City Hall is not conducive to 3-dimensional art or video art at this time.

SELECTION OF WORKS:  Submit your work to the Art EverySpace online portal or provide a link to your work on the Cleveland Artists Registry. We will review your work from that website. We want to make the process easy for you to apply and easy for us to view your work. https://www.clevelandartistregistry.org

SALES:  Art EverySpace will help to negotiate and process payment with a 20% commission. The artist will be responsible for replacing any artwork that has been sold. Art EverySpace will promote artistic activities  throughout the community during the duration of the exhibition.

All submissions are due on Monday, March 30,2020 by 5 pm. Artists will be notified by May 30, 2020 if their work is being selected for the gallery or as a commission.
