The Shaker Arts Council (SHAC) is looking for artists to bring art to local storefronts this coming fall.  Imagine Chagrin aims to reinvigorate the Chagrin and Lee commercial center, support local businesses, and showcase the abundance of artistic talent in our community.  The “Imagine Chagrin” exhibit dates are September 10 through October 8.  SHAC is sponsoring artistic displays for  storefronts located along Chagrin Boulevard between Lee and Avalon Roads and along Lee Road between Chagrin and Van Aken.

This call is open to individual artists as well as teams to participate.  Please download the application here.  Include 3 digital images that represent the type of work you imagine producing.  All work samples and applications must be submitted electronically.  Work samples and applications must be submitted to SHAC via email (info@shakerartscouncil.org) no later than Friday 30 July 2021.

Eligibility: Applicants must be 18 years or older and live in the Greater Cleveland area so that the artwork can be installed on site.

Selected artists will be assigned to a participating storefront and asked to use the resident business as a theme, e.g., food, hair, cellphones, paint, clothing, martial arts, etc.  Business owners will have final approval of artwork.

If submitting as a team each artist should complete an individual application and indicate they are part of a team.   There are no entry fees.  Artists will retain all copyrights to their artwork The work will be installed September 7-9, 2021.  Artists who are selected will receive a modest stipend after the work is installed.  Funds are currently being raised.

All artists agree to:

  • allow SHAC to use images of the storefronts on printed materials and websites for promotional purposes only;
  • allow SHAC to photograph the work.
