Call for Artists POW! WOW! Mural Festival 2020

MidTown Cleveland and LAND studio are seeking portfolios from artists or team of artists interested in painting murals as part of POW! WOW!. The international mural arts festival coming to Cleveland in June 2020.

CALL FOR ARTISTS
POW! WOW! Cleveland seeks to implement 10-20 small, medium,and large-scale murals by local, national, and international artists over a week-long festival in early June 2020. We are looking for fifty-fifty representation between local and national/international artists.

ELIGIBILITY
This Call for Artists is open to all qualified artists or teams, 18 years and older, living or working in Northeast Ohio. Priority will be given to artists who show an ability to paint outdoor murals. Selected artists will be required to obtain general liability insurance in advance of painting by completing the necessary paperwork. Costs for the general liability insurance will not be the responsibility of the artist. Artists will be expected to complete their murals within the time frame of the POW! WOW! festival (7-10 days in early June 2020).

PROCESS + TIMELINE
The deadline for submission is Friday, December 13. Selected artists will be notified via email in early 2020. Once they have been selected, they will work with project coordinators to work out details of their individual projects, including budget, site, concept development, and production needs. Artists will be contracted to provide sketch level concepts and final mural painting. All concepts will need to be approved by the City of Cleveland and with sign off by the property owners prior to painting. Project coordinators will take concepts through the aforementioned approval procedures.

COMPENSATION
Selected artists will work with project coordinators to determine mural budgets based on artist fee, size of wall, materials/supplies needs.
