The Cleveland Orchestra

Annual Giving Officer

The Cleveland Orchestra has been for decades a point of pride in its hometown.  It is universally admired for its world-class credentials, its gifted musicians, and its acoustically perfect and visually stunning concert hall.  The orchestra welcomes people of all ages, all walks of life, and invites them to experience something that is unique in the world.  Reasonable ticket prices and the orchestra’s groundbreaking Under 18s Free programs through the Center for Future Audiences make it possible for today’s, and tomorrow’s, lovers of great music to always have the greatest musical experience the world has to offer … right here in Cleveland.

The Cleveland Orchestra is seeking an Annual Giving Officer who will engage prospects, donors and other members of the community in philanthropic support of The Cleveland Orchestra.  This individual will actively manage a prospect portfolio of both major and mid-level giving donors, identify and qualify new prospects, make discovery calls, and build a pool of new prospects and past donors who have the capacity to increase their annual support.  The Annual Giving Officer initiates gift strategies and cultivates and solicits prospects through personal visits and written communication. He or she will work closely with colleagues to implement strategic approaches to increase the donor base and build a robust pipeline for annual support for the Orchestra.

The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study; 3-5 years of experience in non-profit fundraising in a complex institution; understanding of annual giving programs and application of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques; outstanding organizational skills and high attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; the ability to be discreet and maintain a high degree of confidentiality; strong problem-solving skills combined with a collaborative approach; and the ability to learn and proficiently use various database and planning software. Knowledge of orchestral music is highly desirable.

We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefit package, including a 403(b) plan with employer match, along with the opportunity to work with a world-renowned Orchestra. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, résumé, and salary requirement to hr@clevelandorchestra.com.
