Announcer/Operator

Ideastream Public Media, a Cleveland-based multiple media organization and home to Ohio’s largest PBS, NPR, and classical radio stations, seeks friendly and communicative part-time on-call Announcer/Operators. In this role, you will welcome Ideastream Public Radio listeners to our stations through conversational communication during their live and pre-recorded air shifts, voice overs, promotions and underwriter credits.

Reporting to the Manager of Radio Operations, the Announcer/Operator will perform air shifts, announce continuity, promotions, image liners, and operate equipment for on-air broadcasts. You will also maintain operating, program and EAS logs as required by the FCC, produce pre-recorded continuity and promotions, and participate in on-air fundraising.

Qualified candidates will have demonstrated proficiency operating broadcast consoles and recording and editing equipment, edit copy and audio files, and excellent written and verbal communication. A Bachelor’s Degree in broadcasting, or a related field, and two to three years of experience in on-air production is preferred, though an equivalent of experience in related fields and education will be considered. This is an on-call position with a starting hourly rate of $15.00.
