Waterloo Makes Music: Hubb's Groove and Tommy Lehnman & The Uplift Quartet

Waterloo Makes Music is a free concert series on Waterloo as a gift to all the music lovers in the community, and a celebration of Cleveland’s amazing musical legacy.  Our June show will take place at the Tower Stage on Waterloo and feature Hubb’s Groove and Tommy Lehman & The Uplift Quartet.

Hubb’s Groove: Northeast Ohio Drummer extraordinaire Robert Hubbard leads All-Star BAND. Hubb’s Groove is a mIx of Soul, Jazz, R&B and a splash of Gospel. It’s a smooth but yet high energy band that believes what’s played from the heart, reaches the heart. The band was founded In 1996 by Robert Hubbard in Cleveland Ohio under the name “Moments Notice.”  In 2006 Robert, changed the name to “Hubb’s Groove.” The band has shared the stage with Kirk Whalum, Jonathan Butler, Earth Wind & Fire, Wayman Tisdale, TONY TONi Tone, Will Downing,Randy Crawford and Pieces of a Dream. Hubb’s Groove has performed with Angela Bofill, Marcus Johnson, Alex Bugnon, Mike Phillips and Sean Jones to name a few. Wayne Dawson news Anchor on Fox8 Favorite Band. 2019 Cleveland Best Band award. Most recently we had the honor to play for Cleveland’s  Mayor Bibb inaugural ball and Won Best Jazz Band from The Music Awards 2022.Band members include Jame Blaque  – bass, Mathew Horwich – sax, Tristan Ford – keyboards, Robert Hubbard Jr. – drums, Stacey Crawford- vocals.

Tommy Lehman & The Uplift Quartet

Bio: Tommy Lehman is a trumpeter and vocalist from Akron, Ohio. He is a graduate of Tri-C Jazz Studies program, The Hartt School of Music, and is currently studying for his Masters’ degree at Cleveland State University. He has played professionally in the greater Northeast Ohio region for the last ten years, regularly recording and touring with Nathan-Paul and The Admirables, Nine Lives Project, Bassel and The Super Naturals, Dan Wilson and Voices, as well as projects under his own name. In December of 2022, Lehman released an EP entitled Uplift, which features a quartet made up of Smokeface on bass, Gabe Jones on drums, and Andru Senpai on keys.
