Nov 05 - 06 2022
Tales From the Gimli Hospital [Redux]

Guy Maddin’s unclassifiable first feature is set in a hospital in the fishing community of Gimli, Manitoba, during a smallpox epidemic at the turn of the previous century. Two quarantined patients engage in a bizarre contest of one-upmanship.

Canada, 1988/2022, Guy Maddin

This hilarious, hallucinatory cult classic pays loving tribute to battered, campy old movies while inventing its own brand of Nordic folklore. Cleveland revival premiere. DCP. 63 min. https://zeitgeistfilms.com/film/talesfromthegimlihospital
