Nov 05 - 06 2022
Tales From the Gimli Hospital [Redux]

Guy Maddin’s unclassifiable first feature is set in a hospital in the fishing community of Gimli, Manitoba, during a smallpox epidemic at the turn of the previous century. Two quarantined patients engage in a bizarre contest of one-upmanship.

Canada, 1988/2022, Guy Maddin

This hilarious, hallucinatory cult classic pays loving tribute to battered, campy old movies while inventing its own brand of Nordic folklore. Cleveland revival premiere. DCP. 63 min.

General admission $11; members, CIA & CSU I.D.holders, and those age 25 & under $8.

Masks are currently optional for moviegoers, but still encouraged. Learn more under the “Face Coverings” section at

As a reminder, filmgoers can park for free in Lot 73 and in the Institute’s annex lot, and should enter CIA via nearby Entrance C. Click here for a map.
