ELEPHANT ORNAMENT
Elephant Ornament is a sound collage project of Graham Rosen, a classical recording engineer in Cleveland. Kaleidoscopically splicing audio from recordings across NEO, he thoughtfully reflects them back out his context and touch. Electro-acoustic meditations built with sampled audio, phase, and rotating meters. Elephant Ornaments set will feature compositions based in Ableton Live, brought to life with special guest musicians and additional live processing – this music allows the listener to reflect on phrase and time.
ÉMILIE FORTIN
Émilie Fortin’s lifelong journey in self-awareness has been bumpy and illuminating at times but always rewarding. Eager to share her vulnerability in an attempt to connect with others, she collaborated on these two new works for solo trumpet and electronics with a desire to overcome her sensitivity through her music. When she improvises, she plays between sound and noise, because nothing is black or white.
NICK ZOULEK
Praised as stunningly virtuosic, whatever the genre. (Wall Street Journal), Dr. Nick Zoulek is a Chicago-based saxophonist and composer of pure mindfulness and talent. (PopMatters). Nick explores new possibilities in saxophone, drawing upon indie-rock and EDM influences, weaving tapestries of visceral sound through meditative circular breathing and overtones. At Re:SOUND, Zoulek will perform works from his upcoming project, Enter Branch.
