Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle

Presented by Cleveland Institute of Art and The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque at The Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque, Cleveland OH

Nov 20 2022
Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle

This new film is inspired by the incredible but true story of Japanese WWII soldier who, in 1945, refused to believe that Japan had surrendered. So he continued to live and fight on a remote Philippine island until 1974!

France/Japan/Germany/Belgium/Italy/Cambodia, 2022, Arthur Harari

To him, all reports of Japan’s defeat were enemy propaganda—fake news. “A really well-made, old-fashioned anti-war epic in a forthright and robustly enjoyable style.” –The Guardian (UK). Cleveland premiere. Subtitles. DCP. 173 min. Special admission $12; members, CIA & CSU I.D. holders, and those age 25 & under $9. No passes.
