On The Surface, Down Deep, All Around

The visual art exhibition consists of two parts – portraits of some of the families that inspired the play Watching Butterflies and stylized still life images that allude to health problems disproportionately affecting impoverished communities especially black and brown families. These families in addition to so many others have been affected firsthand by the impact poverty has on children’s health and development. Ford aims to provide softer access points to the difficult realities that many families face daily. Rendering pathways for a discursive safe space between the viewer and the art to provoke more conversation and compassion while maintaining and emphasizing the humanity in this conversation.

This exhibition supported and is part of MetroHealth, LAND studio and 10CHILDREN project.
