Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Library & Archives welcomes you to meet our Library & Archives staff as they present collection materials related to Cleveland’s rich musical history. The Rock Hall’s NEO Sound preservation initiative focuses on collecting archival and library materials related to popular music, musicians, radio stations, record labels, recording studios, music venues, concert promoters, booking agencies, and music publishers in Northeast Ohio. Northeast Ohio played a significant role in the history of popular music. Beginning with WJW-AM deejay Alan Freed’s radio show, his popularization of the phrase “rock & roll” to refer to the musical style, and his staging of the earliest rock & roll concerts, Cleveland continued to play an important musical role during the 1960s-1970s through the promotion of significant national artists and the development of FM radio.
This event is a part of Cleveland History Days, an annual celebration of the city’s rich history.
This free event takes place at the Rock’s Hall Library & Archives, in a shared building with Tri-C Metro’s Center for Creative Arts. Please reserve your free tickets here.
