Loving Highsmith

American author Patricia Highsmith wrote the novels that became such celebrated movies as Strangers on a Train, The Talented Mr. Ripley, and Carol. But like her character Tom Ripley, she led a double life—keeping her lesbianism hidden.

This new documentary, based on the author’s unpublished diaries and notebooks, and containing clips from the aforementioned film adaptations, reveals Highsmith’s secret loves. Subtitles. 83 min.
