Les Délices: Leuven Songbook

Diminutive, precious, and sometimes highly decorated, songbooks were the mix-tapes of their day. Compiled with care for a specific individual, they not only included popular songs but also totally unique works.

Les Délices brings the music and images from the recently-discovered Leuven Songbook to vivid life in this multimedia program including gorgeous projected manuscript images and supertitles. Produced in collaboration with Chicago’s renowned Newberry Consort, our ensemble of singers, medieval fiddles, harp, lute, and recorders will perform works by Ockeghem, Busnois, and more.

Performers include: Ellen Hargis (soprano), David Douglass (vielle & rebec), Allison Monroe (vielle & rebec), Jason McStoots (tenor), Daniel Fridley (baritone), Charles Weaver (lute), Debra Nagy (harp, voice, medieval winds).
