The Kurent Jump marks the awakening of the Kurents for Cleveland Kurentovanje weekend and will take place on Friday, February 25, 2022! Don’t forget your coats and hats – this cold-weather spirited event will be held outdoors in the courtyard of the Slovenian National Home (6417 St. Clair Ave).
Doors will open at 5:30PM for this 21+ Adults Only event. Get ready to dance in those winter boots because the Chardon Polka Band is ready to jam in our tent from 6:30PM to 10:00PM. Tavcar’s catering will return this year with our favorite Golaž (goulash), vegan soup, and strudel available for purchase. Don\’t forget to stop at the cash bar and grab some wine, a beer, or soft drink to wash it down with! We expect that all the singing and dancing should make enough noise to wake up the Kurents around 8PM.
The Kurent Jump is traditionally the first time that the Kurents appear in public, with their bells loudly ringing as they dance around a bonfire, initiating the Kurents’ mission of chasing away winter to make way for spring. The Kurent Jump is a phenomenon that has emerged in recent times in Slovenia and has been part of our festival for the past seven years. Don’t miss the fun here, Cleveland-style.
RESTRICTIONS
In order to best follow Covid 19 Rules and Regulations put in place by the CDC and local Health Officials, the Cleveland Kurentovanje Planning Committee will release our Health and Safety Protocols closer to the date of the event. All ticket holders must agree to follow ALL protocols put in place by the Cleveland Kurentovanje Planning Committee at the time of the event. Anyone who is not willing to follow the rules and guidelines will be removed from the event and their ticket will be forfeited without a refund.
Resale of tickets is strictly prohibited. All guests must be registered through our Ticketleap website. In the event that you are unable to attend, please contact CLEKurentovanje@gmail.com to discuss the refund or transfer of your tickets.
