This program, a collaboration with the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society, focuses on music naturally suited to the intimate and colorful magic of voice and guitar.
2015 Grammy winner Jason Vieaux is recognized as one of the top classical guitarists today. Grammy-winning mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke is a highly sought after performer for her incredible intensity and energy.
The first half of the program first half will draw from Spanish literature. Listen for solos and duos by Albeniz, Granados, Tarrega, and de Falla. The second half of the program celebrates the centennial of composer Leonard Bernstein. The artists will perform songs from his “West Side Story,” “Wonderful Town,” and “Peter Pan,” along with Pat Metheny’s “Always and Forever” and selections from Copland’s “Old American Songs.”
