Forest of Memories is an ambitious, immersive multimedia installation of curated experiences inspired by the wonders of the natural world, on view at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
Using handmade sculptural elements, more than 35,000 LED lights, projection mapping and interactive sound, Forest of Memories imagines a world being reclaimed by nature and transformed into an extraordinary liminal space of maximalist possibility.
Forest of Memories will be on view from November 10 to January 12, 2024 in CIA’s Reinberger Gallery. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8pm Friday, November 10. Remarks begin at 6pm.

This exhibition is a collaborative effort between Reinberger Gallery and students from CIA’s Sculpture + Expanded Media department’s Light, Sound + Installation course led by faculty member Jimmy Kuehnle. Working with a creative partnership team of visiting artists—including software developer Hepp Maccoy and multimedia sound artists Raul Romero and Bob Drake—students were tasked with conceptualizing and executing an immersive installation that incorporates light and sound as both a principal material and structural element. The result is an awe-inspiring, madcap adventure for the senses that must be experienced.
