For Freedoms Town Hall: Love is a Political Act

Love is a Political Act emphasizes the role of compassion and empathy in our democracy. Throughout the day, visitors will practice and share compassion through guided participatory experiences and have opportunities to participate in community-driven projects that create bridges to the struggles and humanity of others.

For Freedoms Town Halls are creative community forums in which local residents and national guests engage in open, civil, question-based conversations about urgent issues influencing our city. Each Town Hall includes artists and artistic expressions that introduce new ways of looking at these topics, which in the past have included gun violence, food inequity, mass incarceration, and immigration. Town Halls encourage honesty and reflection among participants in order to inspire empathy, encourage connections, and promote new ideas.
