19th-century photographer Eadweard Muybridge (of Nope fame), whose serial pictures of humans and animals in motion foreshadowed cinema, is the subject of this new documentary.
USA, 2021, Marc Shaffer
Prior to his world-changing motion studies, the British-born but largely U.S.-based camera man captured landscapes (including Yosemite), Alaskan natives, Indian wars, Central American life, and Northern California winemaking. But hidden in his work are clues that provoke an enduring question: can we believe what we see in a photograph? Features Muybridge collector and expert Gary Oldman. Cleveland theatrical premiere.
