Destructive Desires

Known for their practice of programming concerts around historical themes of social change and tying them to current issues, co-directors and performers of the classical ensemble, Paula Maust and Malina Rauschenfels, have set their sights on one of the leading stories in the news today: the rise of the #MeToo movement.

Pairing stories and themes from biblical passages and seminal Greek stories with a collection of 17^th and 18th-century composers such as Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre and François Couperin, the pair intend to demonstrate various forms of power imbalance and lack of consent in stories old enough to be in our collective unconscious.
