Crash Course: Stagecraft

The Level Up Experience: Tech series of crash courses in the essentials of DIY live performance production, with introductions into lighting, sound, stage craft, video, and working in ‘non-traditional’ venues. All targeted modules are taught by MCA’s Executive Artistic Director Jeremy Paul, a veteran producer and artist with over 15 years of DIY and site-specific production experience. Whether you’re a dancer, musician, actor, or a multidisciplinary avantgarde noise performance art provocateur, the Tech Boot Camp will help you know what to plug in, where to plug it in, and how to turn it on.

This module will focus on the multi-media app QLab, including:
An intro to using the Qlab media control software
Stagecraft 101: putting things together and taking them apart
Basic tool knowledge and taxonomy
Fasteners and Glue: a tragicomic love story
The three knots that bind the world
