Call For Random Acts of Art!

Random Acts of Art is an open call for artists, musicians / composers, poets and community members to share work as part of a Heights Arts digital exhibition during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Heights Arts Random Acts of Art initiative is an opportunity to showcase the work of artists, musicians, and poets in Cuyahoga County. Using social media and our website, Heights Arts will present the submitted work in digital format beginning in April 2020. We will share both our Heights Arts programming and also accept and host artists’ digital images and videos or at-home or at-studio visits, and will consider any relevant type of work that can be shared through our channels.

INDIVIDUAL DATES & TIMES*

Additional time info:

For visual artists
Your work will be shown as a blog post on our website and will be shared via social media outlets – just submit high-quality photos or files of up to three (3) works. Please be prepared to include an artist statement (written and about your work and a video explaining your process and how your work was created.
For musicians and poets
Music performances (of any genre) and poetry can be shared on our website and social media. You will be asked to submit two performances for review by our Music Community Team.

If you’d like to submit a pre-produced video of a performance, please send up to three (3) videos as youtube or vimeo links. Videos should not exceed 10 minutes.

Please note: If you are submitting a pre-produced video (in other words, it was not created specifically for Random Acts of Art), then you will need to include a short video or written statement including the information listed below in our “Videos Should Include” section.
Videos should Include:

Your name and discipline (visual artist, poet, musician)
Your city and state
Tell the audience that you have recorded your work in response to Heights Arts’ Random Acts of Art project.
Describe the work being presented. Here are a few questions you may want to answer in your narrative:

Why this work inspires you and / or what was the inspiration behind creating it
Your personal connection to the work
For artists: what materials did you use – what is your process?
Anything else you feel is important for the audience to know about you

Videos should NOT Include:

Advertisements for your studio or business. We would love to promote what you do, and will include a link to your website if you have one, but these videos are about the creative process and outcome. You can include that information as part of your bio if you’d like.
