They, like so many other cultural icons, share the experience of being portrayed by eminent photographer Abe Frajndlich (1946, Frankfurt, Germany). Since the early 1970s, Frajndlich has been documenting legendary artists and celebrities, all starting with his mentor, Minor White (1908-1976) whom he met in Cleveland in 1970. After moving to New York in 1984, Frajndlich began working for journals such as Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Magazine and became renowned for his ability to capture intimate visions of his subjects like no one else.
Our current exhibition, Abe Frajndlich: Portraits from Our Early Years, shows many of Frajndlich‘s most celebrated artist subjects. Join Frajndlich in this special talk as he reflects on his decades-long career, sharing poignant and funny stories of the best (and the worst) sitters.
