Andrew J. Rickoff Garden Celebration & Community Resource Fair 2019

Join Kulture Kids and the students/families/community of Andrew J. Rickoff School as we kickoff the growing season in our expanded school garden as part of the school’s annual Family & Community Resource Fair on Saturday, May 11th from 10AM-12PM.

Kulture Kids, has partnered with AJ Rickoff school for the past nine years, presenting original, arts-integrated, STEAM-centered classroom residencies. The current garden project, A Pleasant Garden at Andrew J. Rickoff, began in 2016 in response to requests from teachers and administrators for a hands-on way to connect students with science and the arts outdoors. In the garden’s first year, it helped provide over 100 lbs. of produce to the surrounding community. In 2018, it provided over 400 lbs.!

More than 250 people from the school and surrounding community attend this celebration and have direct access to information and resources provided by a variety of community organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland, Recovery Resources, Cleveland Public Library, The Cleveland Clinic, and more.

The event also features free lunch of hot dogs, chips, and water, and free family-friendly activities like bouncy houses, giant Jenga, a reptile show, face painting, and more.

We also expect some of AJ Rickoff students from pre-K to 2nd grade to be able to share what they’ve learned this year from Kulture Kids’ artists, with a mini drum performance, dance, community visual art project, and our well-received and beneficial addition this year: yoga.

Join us in celebrating this successful model for arts-integrated STEAM programming, with an emphasis on nutrition and wellness, and connect with scholars, families, and community members who value and have contributed to this community resource.
