American Creed: Community Conversation

In turbulent times, what ideals do we share in common?

Join us for a Community Conversation featuring entrepreneur Terrence Davenport and Marine Corps veteran Tegan Griffith, both featured in the documentary film American Creed. Following a screening of American Creed they will host a Q&A, engaging Cleveland community members in a dialogue about freedom, fairness, opportunity and the meaning of citizenship.

In the documentary film American Creed, former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David M. Kennedy come together from remarkably different life experiences, backgrounds and points of view to explore American ideals and identity. Their spirited inquiry frames the stories of a wide range of citizen-activists striving to realize their own visions of America’s promise across deep divides.

The launch of American Creed, a PBS special co-produced by Citizen Film and WTTW, is catalyzing a robust national public engagement campaign made possible by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).

A national series of community and school-based conversations with public media stations around the country and with Facing History and Ourselves’ national network of students and teachers supported by The Allstate Foundation, will provide students and the community opportunities to engage with the idea of a unifying national identity based on shared ideals.
