The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks are monumental earthworks built between 1,600 and 2,000 years ago by American Indians. These enormous earthen enclosures were created with exacting precision utilizing alignments with the sun and moon. The geometric forms designed and built by the Hopewell culture astound us today in their vastness and accuracy. We’ll hear from Keynote Speakers Chief Glenna Wallace, chief of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, who was instrumental in securing the UNESCO designation, and Brad Lepper, senior archaeologist for the Ohio History Connection’s World Heritage Program.
Gathering business and nonprofit leaders, developers, preservation experts and long-time Cleveland Restoration Society supporters for an afternoon of networking, the Community Luncheon has become an annual tradition for over 50 years.
