2021 Annual Meeting

The Shaker Historical Society invites you to the 2021 Annual Meeting on January 31, 2021 from 3-5pm. This year our guest speaker is Kara Hamley O’Donnell, Principal Planner for the City of Shaker Heights. After a brief meeting of the members when officers are elected, Kara will discuss Shaker Heights’ and Cleveland Heights’ shared history as first-ring suburbs of Cleveland, historic preservation and the role of Landmark Commissions, and upcoming projects she’ll be working on in Shaker Heights.

Presenter Bio: Kara holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from Miami University’s School of Architecture and a Master of Arts in Historic Preservation Planning from Cornell University.  She is the Principal Planner for the City of Shaker Heights and was the Historic Preservation Planner/City Planner for the City of Cleveland Heights for 25 years.  Ms. Hamley O’Donnell lives in Cleveland Heights and enjoys spending her time on neighborhood walks, hiking in Greater Cleveland’s vast park systems, practicing yoga, and studying maps of any kind.
