Provides the leadership, direction, and oversight of day-to-day operations of Creative Arts’ public programs, such as Jazzfest, Tri-C Presents and various student ensembles and projects.  Manages budget for all public programs.  Assists leadership with fundraising initiatives, external communications, marketing strategies and public relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as budget unit leader for all public programs and provides periodic reports to the Director and Dean of Creative Arts
Supervises, develops and manages the performance of assigned staff
Assists director with fundraising initiatives, including grant proposal writing and donor management
Works with the Director to develop strategies for public relations and marketing for all public programs
Assists director with departmental external communications
Collaborates with the Integrated Communications team to maximize all public relations and marketing initiatives
May represent the JazzFest Director at internal and external meetings as needed
Builds relationships and strategic alliances with K-12 schools, Chambers of Commerce, and other community organizations
Partners with music faculty to plan workshops and masterclasses at East, West and Metro campuses
Serves on campus committees as needed
Assists with development of surveys to provide data analysis for grant reporting and market research
Collaboratively researches ticketing prices and audience participation in similar markets to assist the Director the artistic planning
Develops a system for storing and labeling photos and videos for archival and marketing purposes
Works with operational database to streamline production and itineraries
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Significant related experience may substitute for education
Minimum of five years of performing arts experience
Demonstrated experience planning, assigning, scheduling, supervising and ensuring the quality of the work of others
Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, maintaining, preparing, and monitoring a business area’s budget
Demonstrated experience effectively managing a work unit or team
Demonstrated experience in a role requiring critical thinking and diverse problem solving skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Possess working knowledge of performing arts and production concepts, best practices and procedures
Ability to effectively complete work assignments independently
Possess strong commitment to providing excellent customer service
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and changing work environment requiring flexibility and teamwork
Demonstrated ability to manage relationships, create opportunities and solve problems
Possess strong organizational, time-management skills, and is results-oriented
Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Works accurately with great attention to detail
Ability to effectively respond to requests from multiple levels of the College in various departments
Demonstrated intermediate project management skills
Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to confidentially and discreetly handle subject matters requiring privacy and sensitivity
Ability to collaborate, negotiate and resolve conflicts on major projects
Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key contacts to enhance work flow and quality
Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population
