Managing Editor for Cleveland Magazine Custom Media

Great Lakes Publishing is looking for a leader to manage one of the largest content marketing agencies in Ohio. This Managing Editor for Cleveland Magazine Custom Media will have myriad duties including acting as the lead editor of client projects and representing this department on the Cleveland Magazine leadership team.  We’re looking for a savvy editor with experience in idea generation, project coordination and customer relationships who can report, write and edit engaging content for local communities, trade associations, nonprofits and local merchants. The ideal candidate will be both a master of traditional editing using AP style and eager participant in digital storytelling.

Responsibilities:
Attends client meetings and collaborates with clients to generate content plans and story ideas
Assigns and edits stories for various client-driven products
Writes copy for client-driven products
Fact checks or assigns fact checking on all content and audits facts when required by a project
Works directly with client and is responsible for proof deadlines
Collaborates with art directors, account executives and clients
Proofs and corrects pages in InCopy/InDesign
Manages internal databases, familiarity with Excel preferred
Works with sales to develop new custom partner prospects and ideas
Prioritizes multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Manage timelines and communications with clients
Manage project editorial budgets
Qualifications:
A degree in communications, journalism, English or a related field
5 years experience as an editor
Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills, including AP style
4-6 clips that show skill at magazine, trade or client-driven writing
Must take direction and assert ideas quickly
Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to handle a number of projects simultaneously
