The class covers plant nutrition, nutrient cycling, where and what to fertilize for optimal food output.
The class is a one of a series of classes about using urban land to plant perennial plants, trees and bushes that generate food annually. It covers soil quality, plant selection, plant layout and care. As the plants mature, they will increase their food output over their lifecycle. An example is the food forest at the Coit Road Farmers’ Market. Three vacant lots are being transformed into food for the community.
